Quick Nippon update, I suppose.. I’ve been neglecting tumblr because my internet is not always constant.
I got a studio apartment in Namba, I move on the 29th. My alien registration card process takes a month because the district office is swamped, I can get an official piece of paper that serves as my gaijin card in a week. Until then, I have to sit tight on opening a bank account and cell phone.
Osaka life is pretty hectic, less hectic than Tokyo from what I remember. Albeit the earthquake, tsunami, radiation disasters, Osaka is perfectly normal. People still wander around at night. Biggest difference is due to the nuclear/electricity issues, a lot of lights are turned off at night including famous neon signs in Dotonbori and the lights around Osaka Castle.
The weather is a constant 40 degrees fahrenheit.. it’s freezing for me as an Angeleno. Since the weather is chilly, the sakuras aren’t fully blossomed yet.
I am not exactly homesick, but I do miss my dog, American tobacco (Japanese cigarettes suck), and mom’s food. Oh and speaking English.
